Altered project- Again!

Hello hello,

Wanted to show you a wine bottle I altered recently.I did this for a challenge/DT call run on youtbe. It has a ton of texture and glitter.

Since the person who I was trying for owns a lace shop,I decided to use lace to cover up the bottle.I also used some texture paste and stencilling. You can hardly make it out and its not the best stencilling job I have ever done, but it just merges in with the lace,so no harm done

Love the background.Used distress paints for the first time and like the results.Smooth and not shiny and plasticky.ALso embossed with silver glitter and some random stamping.

Here are a few more closeups

Have you had enough of the pictures?lol.By the way,I also have a youtube channel, much ignored most of the time, but I did make a video of this. Here it is.End of shameless promotion.heh heh

Looking forward to hear your comments, good or bad.

She left beauty wherever she went ...

Hello

Wondering who she is?No,it's not me.I leave a mess wherever I go.This post is about an altered canvas I recently finished.Take a look

I love the background colours. Some acrylic paints, splatters ,some texture paste, some clear seed beads, random stamping and a healthy dose of glitter is what maketh a cool background.

I also coloured the stencilled area with pearlescent watercolours.New fascination.Want to use those everywhere.

Some closeups are in order,right?

Have a happy day.

Sparkle and glitter

Hello

What is everybody up to? Surviving the heat well? I must say, I am a bit relieved with the weather here lately. At least it's breezy and not as suffocating as it was a couple of weeks back.

Now that the small talk is over, let's talk about the project I want to share.Another card, and this time I went for white and silver, inspired by the challenge at Itsy Bitsy.I had to will myself not to use any flowers or flourishes here.I did end up using some flowers, but thankfully they are flat.

For the base panel, I used some vellum and heat embossed it in Silver with a script stamp.Totally loving vellum! Need to buy more !I have used punches,Circle dies lace and pearls for the embellishments. The smallest heart is also heat embossed vellum.Again.I LOVE Vellum!

Here are a few more pics

I hope you like it.Your feedback is welcome.See you soon.

Experiments with my brand spanking new dies :-).

Hello,

How is everybody?I was planning to call this post DO or DIE,lol.I changed it at the last minute.Recently,I finally gave way to my temptation of buying a die cutting machine.Applause, Applause, Applause! After that, all I have been doing is just blowing away my money buying expensive dies.Hussena had warned me that once I start getting into die cutting,I won't be able to control myself from buying things and I was secretly gloating, saying that's not going to happen with me, complimenting myself on my self control etc.Ha! the joke is on me.Hussena, you were so right!lol

Anyhow,I tried a card and I made it for a post at Crafter's Corner blog to showcase the Edgeabilties dies. For details on what I used and how it was done, you can go here.

I know that the card doesn't look like anything special in the photo, but it looks quite pretty in real.I love the embossed vellum and the vellum diecuts.

Hope you like it too.

Cheers

Who's the fairest of them all ?

Hello!

Confused about the title? That is me trying to be a smart -alec.I want to show you an altered project that I did recently (um not so recently actually, but in my world if its posted within a month of creation, that is RECENT).

I have been watching a lot of people making dressers out of matchboxes.I was always tempted to make one,but I avoided it.I was scared of the little ittsy bitty papers that needed to be cut and all the fiddly bits.Recently, I had to make something as an inspiration project for Crafter's Corner,so I thought what the heck and went ahead and did it.Much cursing and tantrums were involved in the creation. No humans or tools were harmed in the process though.:-)

Here's how it looks

That weird blob of white on the flower vase is driving me nuts.

Here's how I did it,if you are interested in making one for yourself and learning from my mistakes, read on, or emm skip it .As usual it's me rambling on and on and on.Crisp concise posts are not my forte!

The Construction  :

1.Collect empty matchboxes of the same size.Stack and arrange based on how many columns and rows you want..

2.Once you are happy with the arrangement, mesaure the front of the matchbox drawers and cut paper strips to cover them.I inked the edges too.I was dumb enough yo measure and still cut crooked pieces. It will be easier and faster it you just cut larger strips of paper and then stick it to the front of the drawer and trim off the excess.

3.Paint the bottom, sides and the inside of the drawers.Again learn from my mistake.Don't paint the sides and the bottom of the drawer because acrylic paints become a little bit sticky and then it's a pain to slide the drawers back and forth.I think its better to cover the sides with paper.

4.Poke a hole in the center of each drawer and use something to act as a drawer pull.Use can use buttons, pearls, ribbon pulls etc.I chose to go with a snowflake eyelet and a crystal brad.Just stick the brad through the eyelet and then stick in to the pireced hole that you made.

5.I then glued all the matchboxes together, painted the whole outside and the spaces between the matchboxes.

The decoration :
1.For the sides,I first cut out Spellbinders floral ovals die cuts and then cut them ino half, stuck them down on the sides and then covered the side with a different pattern paper.I also cut a larger floral oval die for the back. You don't have to do it.I did it because usage of dies was a requirement for the design team.

2.I cut chipboard both for the top and bottom of the dresser and covered it with paper. For the feet ,I just used wood beads.

3.I used a chipboard frame ,painted it in silver and for the mirror,I used aluminium foil tape.

Everything else is little embellishments that I either made or had in my stash. The frame is a 3-d sticker that I had,the comb is a charm from a necklace, the perfume bottles are just some beads and bead caps hot glued to each other.

I have to say that out of the whole thing, I am super impressed with one thing and that is the flower vase I made. It's so cute!

Decorate to your heart's content an enjoy your itty bitty project.Oh, I forgot to tell you the reason for the blog post title.I actually wanted to write "who's the fairest of them all" on the aluminium foil for a fairytale type look but after I did it, it looked horrible with my handwriting,so I chucked the idea.:-)

Hope you liked it and try it out.

Catch you later!

Altered Embroidery hoop

Hiya People,

Have been missing again, haven't I? I have my excuse ready. This heat is driving me nuts and I feel totally blah.No interest in creating or updating.Hope this phase gets over soon since I have tons of things to finish.

Anyhow, today I wanted to share a project that I made as an inspiration piece for Crafter's Corner challenge number 8.This time's challenge was set by me.Do go and check it out here.

Here is how it looks

I used the colours specified in the challenge and the Prima Tea Thyme papers were perfect for this.I cut some circles out of three different sheets and distressed and stuck them down. This month we were supposed to use dies,so I used the Cheery lynn mini fanciful flourish with the flowers and also Spellbinders floral ovals or the back of the hoop.

The entire hoop and Happiness sentiment are both glittered but not showing up in the picture or maybe I took this before I glittered them.Blah...who cares, right?Just know that it is there.lol

Here are some closeups.I love those foam roses that I got in a RAK from a good friend. This is one of the very few things that I have made for myself and it will hopefully be hung somewhere properly....or maybe it will just languish in a corner of my craft room like everything else.Blah...again.

Okay so that's it.Hope I did not make you all tired and sleepy with my boredom inducing post.Hope to be more cheerful the next time..maybe I should post only during the monsoons.:-)

Have a great scorching day and please show me some love.I need love and icecream right now.

Submitting it for Whimsical Designs Alter it Challenge

Project Share - Tags

Hello Folks,

I wanted to share a couple of tags I made for a swap. The theme of the swap is to make mixed media jumbo tags with a spring theme. Here are my tags.I don't know why but photographing the first one was a real pain.Evey picture just seemed washed out.

Here is a closeup

Here is the second one.Loads of texture on this.I used gauze and seed beads coloured with alcohol inks and stencilling with modelling paste.

Hope you like these. Thanks for visiting!
